Our New Toy

We got a trampoline! I think I am as excited as the boys. We have talked about getting one for several years but something else usually came up. I saw one on sale at K-Mart but when I went to get it they were out. Luckily they gave me a raincheck. I called the next week and they had gotten a few more in. We haven't gotten the netting up yet so it makes me a little nervous when someone is jumping. It has been very cold the last few days but the boys have been out there jumping. They keep inventing new tricks that I have to come out and see. Now they have one more thing to do when I say go outside and play :)

Happy Jumping!!

Happy Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was filled with Parties! Kannon and I had our Preschool party first. We had yummy snacks and fun valentine cards.

It also was Pink Day so all of the girls looked cute in Pink! Kannon chose not to wear Pink. :)

We have been working hard on learning to read each others names. Most of the kids were able to read the name on their Valentine card and match it to the bags. Great job!

Having a Valentine Feast in the Kitchen center.

Next, was Tanner's party. Nana was visiting so Kannon got to stay home with her. Tanner's class did a couple of crafts and then also had goodies and cards. Each student had decorated a special box for their cards. After the party, Tanner got to come home which I think is the best part of Party Day.

I dropped Tanner off at home and then headed back to school for Corey's party. Again, more goodies and more cards. Corey is the only kid I know that really reads and looks at every card. He got excited about everything in his bag.

Barry and Dustin both brought home goodies too so we had a very SWEET Valentine's Day!

Our Cardinal Family

Tanner got a birdfeeder for Christmas and we finally got around to putting it up. We were so surprised to see a whole family of Cardinals out there eating one morning. They are out there everyday now. I have seen as many as 7 males and 5 females at one time. The males are such a bright red. The boys have enjoyed watching them. One morning, I went to the window to see the birds and there sat Indy (our cat) right under the feeder. I guess he was enjoying watching them too.
The picture was taken from pretty far away but I think you can see a few red spots here and there. Tanner and the birds thank you for the birdfeeder, Papa.

It's All About the Treats

We have been trying some new snacks for Family Home Evening this year. Songs, lessons, stories, and games are great but I have decided the real fun is in the "Treat". A few of our favorite treats so far this year have been: Ice cream with the "Ice Cream Ball",we had to keep reminding Kannon "you can't throw the ice cream ball. Now every week Kannon asks if we can make ice cream. It was fun and yummy!

Our "Jello Bar" was also a big hit. Aunt Jamie had gotten us some fun sundae, milk shake type glasses and so we used them to make our Jello Creations. Kannon and I had made three different types of Jello and then we also had cool whip. The boys had fun layering the jello and cool whip in their glasses.

We also made Doughnuts which was so easy and they were really good. We used regular refrigerator biscuits and then fried them for about 20 seconds. Then we dipped them into different toppings: powdered sugar, icing, and cinnamon sugar. YUMMY!
Family time is always fun especially when there are TREATS!

Basketball Homecoming

Friday night was Valley View Basketball Homecoming. It is always fun to see all of the girls in their pretty dresses. They had both a Junior High and Senior High court with a Queen and a King. Actually, all of the students were decked out in fancy clothes for the dance after the game. The game was great. Valley View came out ready to play and to win. Dustin scored 15 points and made some great passes. This was the last home game so all of the seniors on the team got a lot of playing time. There was a big article in the paper the next morning and Dustin's picture was on the front page of the sports section. (We were surprised at that!)

Dustin went to the Homecoming Dance after the game with a girl that plays basketball also. She is a ninth grader but she plays on the High School team and is usually the high scorer. They looked very cute together. After the dance they went with a big group to IHOP. That is the place where all the kids go after ballgames. Dustin seems to be enjoying Valley View.
