Good Grades Activity

The first nine weeks of school is over and all of the boys had very good grades. We are so pleased with how well they do in school. We try to do something fun each nine weeks to celebrate. Dustin chose to go bowling with some friends but the rest of us headed to Chuck-e-Cheese to play video games. The boys love the games and I love it because it is so cheap. Tanner had fun with a new game they had: Deal or No Deal. Instead of playing for money you play for tickets, up to 40. One time he ended up with 27 tickets which he thought was awesome.

Kannon also tried out a new game which was fun - horse racing. You actually had to steer the horse by pulling the reins side to side. It took Kannon a few laps before he figured out which way to pull the reins.

Corey stuck with his old favorite - Safari Hunting which Barry likes too. You drive a jeep through the grasslands and have to lasso different animals. The animals get faster and stronger as you go along. I don't think they have reached "Master Safari" level - yet!

My favorite is Skee Ball but no one took a picture of me playing that. :) I am the Skee Ball champ in the family. I remember playing Skee Ball on the boardwalk at the beach for a nickel. Those were the days! We had a fun evening of being together and playing video games. The boys have already decided that next nine weeks we will go "glow in the dark" bowling. Great job boys! We are proud of you!

Happy Birthday Nana!

Nana came and spent a few days with us last week. On Monday, we spent most of the day at the District Tennis Tournament. It was a pretty day to be outside. Dustin and his partner got 2nd in the tournament which qualified them to go to the State Tournament this week. Tennis is such a weird sport - no scoreboard, no umpires or officials (the players call the ball in or out), no cheering from the crowd - half the time you don't know who is winning. We enjoyed it anyway and Dustin did great.

Tuesday, Nana spent the whole day canning. She was suppose to come help me can but you know how great moms are. She did pinto beans and apple pie filling. I did help a little here and there and learned a lot about canning. We plan to do more over Thanksgiving.

Tuesday night we all went to watch Tanner play flag football and then came home and had a birthday party for Nana. We had hot fudge brownie sundaes. YUM!

Wednesday, Nana and I went to the temple and then even squeezed in a little shopping at the Mall. We both bought a few things and then ended our shopping with an Auntie Anne's Pretzel. It sure was fun having Nana visit. The boys kept asking her if she could stay longer but she said she had to get home and take care of Papa. I guess Papa needs to come with her next time. Happy Birthday Nana! We love you!

The Bjarnson Family

We were so happy to have Tracey, Owen and baby Summer come visit us in September. We wished that the rest of the Bjarnson family could have come also. Maybe next time :)

At Tanner's Baptism

The boys were so excited to play with Owen. Kannon and Owen had fun playing outside together. They rode bikes, jumped on the trampoline, played football, baseball, and any other ball they could find. Owen is a ball lover like my boys. He is going to be a good little ballplayer.

We went to Craighead Forest one day and played at the playground and fed the ducks. It was beautiful weather during their stay. Tracey and I got to visit while the boys had fun together.

Baby Summer is so cute. She loved being outside in the stroller watching the boys play. Tanner especially loved having Summer visit. He liked pushing her in the stroller and liked helping take care of her.

Owen always had a smile on his face. What a fun little boy!

We loved having Tracey, Summer and Owen visit. We don't get to see them often enough. We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful extended family. We missed you Maia, Brooke and Uncle Finn.

Tanner's Baptism

Sunday September 28th was a special day for us. Tanner was baptized. He was a little nervous but very excited. We were sure proud of him.

We were very happy that Nana, Papa, Aunt Tracey, Owen and Summer were able to attend. Tanner picked out the songs and talks for the meeting. Nana and Aunt Tracey gave talks, Corey and I said prayers, Dustin was a witness, and Kannon sang "I am a Child of God" with Tanner's primary class. It was a very nice service.

We sure feel blessed to have Tanner in our family. He is such a sweet boy. We love you Tanner!

Snowboarding?

We don't really get much snow in Arkansas and have the chance to use our snowboard very often. So Kannon figured out another use for it. He was having a great time!

Fall Sports

Fall is here and we are enjoying a little down time from sports. We just have Dustin playing High School tennis and Tanner playing Flag-Football at the YMCA. Dustin plays doubles and does really well. They play a couple of matches a week and then will play in the District Tournament in a few weeks. Tennis is so hard to keep up with because the players keep the score and if you miss a play or two you have no idea who is winning or losing. There have been several matches that after it was over I had to ask Dustin, "Did you win?" All sports should have scoreboards!

Dustin and his partner, Aaron Thomas, a fellow baseball player.

Tanner is enjoying his first season of Flag Football. He is getting more aggressive as the season goes on. They play once a week and then usually practice once also. He plays mostly defense and gets several pulled flags each game (tackles). Several boys on his team are in his class at school so that makes it fun. We enjoy watching him play.
