Preschool Field Day

Field Day finally arrived! The Preschoolers have been asking about it for weeks. We played all the typical Field Day games - tug-o-war, water balloons, sponge race, etc... It was a pretty day and everyone enjoyed just running around playing with each other. Of course, we had popsicles too. This was also our last day of Preschool. What a great year this as been!

Kannon and I will both be heading off to "real" school next year - him in Kindergarten and me teaching 2nd grade. I guess that means we have to wear shoes to school now. :) I have loved teaching Preschool. What sweet kids I have had over the 5 years that I have taught.

Academy Awards

Tanner's 2nd Grade Class had an Academy Awards night. The students dressed up "fancy" for the event. The parents lined the "red carpet" with autograph books that we had the students sign as they walked it. It was very cute and the kids looked awesome.

Awards were given out in all of the Academic areas along with classroom behavior and citizenship. The students took turns being the presenters of the awards.

Tanner received an award for being the best participator in class and also won the Citizenship Award. We were so proud of him. After the awards, there were fancy refreshments for everyone. What a great night! Tanner has had a wonderful 2nd grade year and has learned so much.

Great Job Tanner!

State Champs - Again!!

Dustin's High School baseball team had another great season. Plagued with rain throughout the final weeks we were not sure if we would ever be able to finish the season. The Valley View players got very efficient at "tarping a field".

Many games were delayed, some were completely cancelled and one we even started at one field and then moved across town to another field to finish because of the rain. But through it all Valley View played great and came out State Champions again. The team played well together and everyone stepped up and did their job. The coach commented in the newspaper one time that with this team he could also have won the Quiz Bowl Championship because they are not just good athletes but a group of really smart guys. The State Championship game was played in Fayetteville at the University of Arkansas Razorback Stadium. We played Shiloh Christian which is a private school that is known to recruit players. Valley View wasn't necessarily the favorite to win the game - but they surprised them all and won 5-0.

Kannon was ready to cheer the team on - he kept asking when they were going to do the "dogpile"

The "Dogpile"

Proud of their big brother

We were glad that Grandmama and Grandaddy got to come watch the game. Nana and Papa also came. Dustin had quite the cheering section.

Way to go Blazers! We are proud of you Dustin!

Rocket Show

The 6th Grade had their annual Rocket Day last week. Every 6th grader made a rocket and had the chance to launch it out on the football field. They measured how high each one went and gave out trophies. Corey was the first to launch his rocket. It did pretty good. The best part of the day for Corey though was getting lunch from the concession stand - he thought that was just great.

Here is Corey's rocket taking off.
6th Grade has sure been a lot of fun for Corey. He has had a great year.
